CONCLUSIONS


  • Even though Translation it's been underrated  as a teaching strategy for a long time and only used for communication purposes instead of education, we now can say that it's slowly coming back to the academic scene by L2 experts, due to it's pertinence as an effective writing and reading activity, it's now consider as a sucessful path to enhance vocabulary, critical reading and writing and cultural compentences, among others. Taking this into consideration, all of the authors studied in our essays, refered to translation as an acceptable method to achieve certain learning goals, leaving behind the pre-conception that Translation is an old and obsolete teaching methodology.  They state  that it is possible to used Translation as a learning strategy by addapting it to the learner's goal and the specific skill to be developed.


  • According to the aforementioned activities, the concept of traslation has become clear to us, which helps our communication skills, as some authors mention, for example Leonardi (2010), translation improves critical reading skills, improves awareness grammatical and language proficiency, facilitates the acquisition of vocabulary and develops intercultural competence. also that the translation has methods, strategies and procedures that seek to technify this fifth skill, translation, which are important to make a translation, also for our learning process as students and future teachers, also for our future students;  because I think it is the fundamental basis of acquiring a second language. with translation we learn the basic vocabulary and so on.

  • All language learners have translated at least once at certain point, but not everyone is able to accept it or use translation as a constant activity without worries, especially for the strong tendency of disagreement that existed (and still exists) towards translation as a pedagogical activity, expressing always disadvantages of its use for the communication skills and useless L1 and L2 interaction, but communication includes different aspects not only oral interactions, the reading and writing skills are part of it, and as it is known that translation is a complex task where reading and writing are abilities are developed and all what implies as intercultural knowledge, so the point to debate has not been communication but Spontaneity, because it is a reality that translation doesn’t help to improve oral production instantly and that doesn’t mean that it is a bad practice in a classroom for all students, in fact, translation is an option for analytic and reflective learners especially adults, where the interaction between L1 and L2 is unbreakable, comparisons between languages always will exist for critical learners, this shouldn’t be a problem, differences awareness could be an enriching knowledge for different skills, so to conclude the translation might be an interesting experience for some learners and maybe for others not depending of the case, teachers should be view it as any other pedagogical activity and allow students to experience and evaluate by themselves.
